A Bit About Me

Who am I?

Professionally, I'm a creative designer and manager with over 8 years of industry experience with a passion for delivering stylish, accessible solutions and a great user experience.

I have led projects of all sizes and have worked with various clients from professional football clubs to entire education communities, as well as consumer internet portals and corporate re-brands. My main expertise lies in user interface design, web production and web management, software technical architecture/front end design, GUI design and marketing. I've designed everything from brochure sites to large-scale, complex web applications, and my work has always centered around clean, aesthetic design with a focus on usable interfaces.

As an employee, I'm accessible, smart, witty and genuine. I have a strong work ethic and attention to detail coupled with an enthusiastic appreciation of all things visual, attentive to the ideas, views and needs of others and quite a nice guy to boot!

Personally, I'm husband to a wonderful lady and father to two fantastic boys. After hours I like to cook, nothing too fancy but I do find the process of going through a recipe a great relaxer. Photography is another great passion which I'm trying to give more prominence in my life. You can see some recent efforts on my Flickr page.

As well as the usual family stuff - walks, shopping, parties - I'm illustrating a book (early stages) for my eldest son based on the insanely brilliant characters he comes up with. I also have plans to write my own fictional story but that's been in the pipe forever!

Inspirationally, it would take forever to list out each and every website that I have drawn inspiration from. However, I like nothing more than scanning through the CSS galleries such as CSS Drive and CSS Elite, to keep my eye on the latest trends, soak up all the fantastic ideas and allow my jealously monster to feast on the outstanding amount of talent out there amongst the designerati.

Particular individuals of note whom I've either drawn inspiration from or regularly follow their blogs are; Matt Brett, James Mathias & Eoghan McCabe.
